On the 9th of May 1950 French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman pronounced his renowned Europe-declaration which led to the creation of what would later become the EU. We therefore celebrate Europe Day on the 9th of May in the whole of Europe. Each year, the European institutions in Brussels use this opportunity to organise an open day. It is absolutely worth travelling to Brussels to be able to take a look behind the scenes of the EU. Around that date, the city of Brussels also celebrates its ‘birthday’. The European Movement in Belgium, together with JEF Belgium, is often present at one of the two celebrations with an interactive stand, either at the European Parliament or at the Royal Park. Thousands of visitors pass through our stand each year to get to know the EU a bit better in a playful way. Moreover, you will be able to meet a whole lot of Belgian MEPs who pass by our booth. Join us on the next 9th of May, Europe Day!
On Saturday 4 May 2024, on the occasion of Europe Day, the European Mouvement Belgium organised an informative walk in the European Quarter of Brussels.
