As European Movement Belgium, we followed with great interest the State of the Union address by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen the day before yesterday. Despite the difficult period we are in due to the Russian war in Ukraine and the rising energy prices, she has managed to convey a message of European unity. We too look forward to further action to reform the European energy market and also draw hope from its positive conclusions regarding the Conference on the Future of Europe.

 

We would certainly welcome the continuation of the Citizens' Panels and we very much look forward to the promise of establishing a new European Convention. This was also a wish of the European Parliament. Now it becomes crucial that the Commission puts its words into action and that the Member States also agree to reform and expand Europe, so that we as a continent are ready for the geopolitical challenges of the future!
